What is SHIBUYA SKY?

SHIBUYA SKY is an observation facility located in SHIBUYA SCRAMBLE SQUARE, a large commercial facility directly connected to Shibuya Station.
Please note that SHIBUYA SKY is not the name of the building.
The main attraction is the view from the top floor.

You can see the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building, Shinjuku Gyoen, and the National Stadium.

You can see Sky Tree on the left and Tokyo Tower on the right!
Popular Spot For Foreigners
I was surprised by the large number of foreign users.
Every time I visit, about 30% are foreigners.
How to get to SHIBUYA SKY?
Look for the “SHIBUYA SCRAMBLE SQUARE” sign!
There are multiple ways to get to SHIBUYA SKY, but as I mentioned at the beginning, SHIBUYA SKY is not the name of the building.
Let’s follow the sign that says “SHIBUYA SCRAMBLE SQUARE“.
You can access SHIBUYA SCRAMBLE SQUARE easily from Exit B6 when using the trains below;

It is hard to go to it from the Hachiko exit… from my experience.

Take The Elevator Up To The 14F
When you go up from the basement with the escalator above ground, there is an elevator behind SHIBUYA SKY.
Take the elevator to the 14F where the ticket counter is located.

Purchase Tickets
When you arrive on the 14F, there is a ticket counter on your right, you can buy tickets.

It’s time to enter!
After going through the gate, take the elevator to the outdoor observatory.
Fantastic scenery spreads out in the elevator.
The up and down elevators are different, so please experience them with your own eyes!

Arrive on the 46th floor
When you get off the elevator, there is an escalator.
When you go up the escalator, you can see the outdoor area, but please check the following NG items before going outdoors.

The point is, “Don’t put anything that doesn’t fit in your pocket or that might be blown away by the wind!”
Also, for Muslim women, please use a hijab that will not be blown off, not a scarf-type hijab.
The outdoor observatory!
The picture below is the first area from the 46th floor where the locker room is located.
Depending on the time of day, there will be several groups lined up for a photo shoot.

Let’s head to the 47th floor using the escalator!

Below is a photo of part of the outdoor escalator taken during the day.

Cautions at popular photo spots
Here is the famous spot in SHIBUYA SKY below;

As expected, the sunset time is busy.
After listening to the explanation before shooting, you will be guided to the shooting spot.
A worker with a camera will take a picture for you, but you have to buy it if you want it.
If it is busy, workers will announce, “1 minute for each group.”
And to prevent the spread of COVID-19, you cannot ask any employees or other groups to take pictures with your smartphones or cameras.
There are many performances!

You can enjoy the performance of lights and music when you are lucky!!

An annual passport is a good deal if you visit there more than 3 times a year
Did you know that SHIBUYA SKY has an Annual Passport (hereafter, Annual Pass)?
Adults are ¥2,000 at the ticket counter and ¥1,800 online in advance, while the annual pass is ¥5,400.
Same-day tickets have a sales limit, so when you arrive at the site, we don’t know if I can buy a ticket.
Also, you need to purchase new tickets if you leave there.
However, annual pass holders can enter even if tickets for the day sold out!
And! Half-price admission for up to one companion of Annual Pass holders!
How to purchase an annual pass
There are 2-types of annual passes: cards and apps.

I couldn’t download the smartphone app, so I bought the annual pass with a card type!
Both the smartphone app and the card type are pre-booked,
so you can purchase it at the ticket counter after completing registration on the website.
Annual pass purchases are separate from the ticket purchase site, so Book from here!

Notes on Annual Passes
In this article, I will not touch on the detailed notes on the homepage.
When using the Annual Pass, please note that You cannot lend and borrow it.
When you purchase the annual pass at the window, you will be taken a photo of your face and remove the mask each time you use it.
Don’t cheat.
Conclusion
How was it?
You will be overwhelmed by the panoramic view of the Tokyo suburbs.
I have visited SHIBUYA SKY several times with my husband and have enjoyed it every time.
Please visit there when you go to Shibuya.
